Marcel Dutil

An entrepreneur with authenticity

Video available in French only.

Marcel Dutil was born in the city of Saint-Georges in Beauce to a family of entrepreneurs. In 1961 he worked at the Canam Steel Works factory, founded by his parents and an American partner. To fulfill the transportation needs of the family business, Dutil launched his own company, Manac, in 1966 at the age of 24. In 1972 he acquired his parents’ company and created Groupe Canam Manac with the aim of building a world-renowned enterprise. Supported by a devoted team, Dutil developed a unique skill set. This enabled his company to participate in the construction of major projects, including skyscrapers, stadiums and bridges. After a period of time, he also carefully prepared to pass on the family business to the next generation, specifically his sons Charles and Marc, who now respectively head Manac and Groupe Canam. Proud of his origins, Dutil contributed to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs through his frank advice and by invigorating the community of Beauce through his contributions to the local infrastructure.
