INNOVATION AND DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY

The need to set themselves apart led Christiane and Jean-Yves to build new hotels instead of buying existing properties. For Christiane and Jean-Yves, renovation and innovation go hand in hand. Take their recent overhaul of Le Germain Montréal, which they closed for nearly an entire year to complete an ambitious project: the addition of six floors onto an 18-story building in the heart of downtown.

RELYING ON COURAGE AND FAITH

When it comes to their business, the siblings play different but complementary roles: Christiane takes care of brand image and customer service while Jean-Yves oversees financing and construction. This arrangement, along with their proven ability to manage risk, allows the entrepreneurs to combine their strengths in pursuit of their common goals. It took ambition to launch three new hotel brands in Québec, considering their competition mainly consists of giant global chains. Carving out a place for themselves required a healthy dose of courage, not to mention conviction. The Germains have never been shy about competing in the big leagues: they’ve constructed new hotels, exported the Germain brand outside Québec, and built a name in the three-star hotel market. Christiane and Jean-Yves have always felt confident their business would be successful. And this attitude has helped them attract customers and business partners alike.
